Chapter 4: Common Bendy Body Complaints
In this chapter Libby explains the common conditions that like to ride shotgun with hypermobility. As a (self-diagnosed) person with hypermobility that is now well-managed, this chapter helped me understand many of the struggles I’ve had in the past. As a mother to someone who I suspect is hypermobile, it was hard not to feel triggered with fear that all of these conditions will come crashing down on her someday.
I share this because you, too, might feel both validation and anxiety while reading. But Libby reminds us that 1) not all bendy people will have these challenges and 2) the aim of of the chapter is to broaden our awareness so that we can respond to ourselves and our bendy students with more skill and empathy.
