Did anyone else feel like 😱 when they suddenly realized it is already March?
At the beginning of this year, I took Gretchen Rubin’s recommendation and created my “23 for 2023” list — I’m not typically a New Year’s resolution-maker, but I was drawn to the idea of setting clear intentions for the year.
My 2023 list represents how I’d like to intentionally spend my time and energy this year. With that in mind, one of the items on my list is to review the list once/month. Which I just did. Oddly enough, I noticed that I failed to put something on the list that was churning so hard inside me it almost hurt: I wanted to do something creative this year. I had no idea what form that would take (which is probably why it didn’t make the list — I was scared to even say it out loud), but I chewed on it for several weeks.
And then — boom — the idea to start this Substack suddenly made so much sense, I couldn’t not do it. I wanted a place to write again that was all my own. I wanted to gather people together to talk about things we’re discussing on the podcast. And a place to express the things that matter to me — embodiment, mindful living, the intersection between psychology, neuroscience, and yoga, and motherhood to name a few.
So, if you are reading this — thank you! The rest of my 2023 list needs my attention and focus — but the intention to start a new creative endeavor has been fulfilled and my heart is full because of it.
Here’s a link to the blog post that I wrote about drafting mindful intentions. There’s still time to create one for yourself if you feel inspired. I don’t think it’s something that needs to be reserved for the new year only; it’s nice to take stock and see if you are spending your time and energy on things that matter to you.
Yogaland Book Club starts this Monday, March 6th! 🎉
As I mentioned in last week’s Yogaland Roundup, I will post a few times/week and certain posts will be available to paid subscribers-only. I willl also interact with paid subscribers on those threads.
I do recommend that you get your hands on some squishy balls (why does that sound dirty?) Jill points out that lacrosse balls are not the same in that they have no give. Jason used to use lacrosse balls and I can attest that Jill is telling the truth! I haven’t come across anything better than her grippy balls (I am apparently a 3rd grader when any adjective is attached to the word balls). Anyway, I love that they come in pairs and in the netting. I’m also pretty obsessed with the Corgeous ball.
When I ordered my Tuneup Balls, I went with the Roll Model Starter kit and I’ve been using it ever since. Here’s the page that gives you all of the different options.
Lastly! If you’re a paid subscriber, Jill will join us in a webinar Q&A session, just for us!
It will take place on April 11th at 9am PST. You must register to get a link to the event! I will put the registration form below. (Note that it’s beneath the paywall line, so if you can’t see it and you’d like to come, just upgrade your subscription!)
