I’m still waiting on my book and new set of toys (ball set) to experiment with. As a yoga teacher I would love to learn and incorporate more breath work into the practice. Personally, I have been using breath to co-regulate my nervous system. I have found it to be the gateway into a deeper and grounded meditation practice. I’m excited to learn about the use of the balls to tap into the nervous system. I think it will be a fun way to explore and share the book with my family. I’m not sure I would have made the time if it wasn’t for the book club. Thank you for the offering it. I agree with your wish to have this work reach a wider audience. I think that people are under chronic stress and fatigue. Despite there being more chatter about it, I feel that there lacks real action steps to address the underlying issues of stress. 👍

Hi Andrea,

My book just arrived and I'm reading it in my postpartum bubble with a sleeping baby on my lap. (Man, it is difficult to find a good position with this massive book 😀) Mostly, I nap along, but this book gives me a sense of my neurdy-booklover-yoga-self. Happy to be able to surf along this club to keep me at it.

I'm a teacher with a long selfpractice of breathwork and a love for fascia. But I rarely share this in class. I hope this book will make me understand why I love it so much and by doing this, giving me tools to share more in class in a way that makes sense.

Glad to be here!

I really want to learn how to use the breath to be able to connect to my body more deeply. I love yoga for this but I think I have some past issues that allows me to kind of bypass the most inner connection because it's uncomfortable and stay on the physical plane. I'm very inspired by Jill and willing to learn and go deeper.

I'm excited for community and accountability in reading and practicing.

My intention is focused practice and engaging with the work so that I am really digesting the work and practices.

My pre-order from Amazon Canada did not show up, and I was so disappointed that I was going to miss out, but I just (literally two minutes ago) bought it in e-book format on Apple and am excited to get started. To answer your question, Andrea, I feel like I’m a novice at breath work but I know it helps me and want to learn more. I was fascinated but everything you and Jill talked about on her most recent episode and want to go back to listen to previous episodes with Jill.

I'm interested exploring breath practices to shift my mindset. I want to excavate and process stress so that it doesn't limit on my consciousness. I'm aiming for a more creative mindset with a more expansive breath.

Excited for book club! I have a tendency to get distracted when working with books so hoping this keeps me on track.

I have been guiding classes in a facility that only wants us to guide sama vritti for a while. I am looking forward to learning and relearning other breath practices.

Fatigue has always been my biggest obstacle. While I don't mind the "energetic" pranayamas, I do believe the fatigue is mostly rooted in adrenals which means more parasympathetic. Like Jill talks about... the parasympathetic is paradoxically going to give you more energy.

I am so over the top excited to read this book! Listening to you and Jill discuss the content was absolutely captivating to me lol I hate to sound so dramatic but I was nerding out over the whole conversation. As a CVT I have learned about the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems as it pertains to animals as well. To kind of revisit that information now as I advance my own practice while completing my first 200hr program, it is just so fascinating. Jill is so well spoken about the content and I can’t wait to dive in. I do have one question however.. how do I get a copy? 🥺 when I clicked the link it shows it as sold out on that site..

Hi friends! Comin' in hot and late, over here! never on schedule, always on time. I'm starting now because I was on a bucket list trip as we began (Ireland!) and that sucker was too big and heavy for my carry-on. :) I am delighted to be here! My primary intentions are to deepen a relationship with my core, building more towards a relaxed baseline alongside reflexivity and strength, as well as to become more adept and switching on my off switch. My suspicious is that both of these will affect my digestion, which I am working on lately. More context about me: I taught yoga up until 2019, when I did a big identity shift, to nursing school and then started as a plague nurse in 2020. I learned a lot about burnout in 2020 and 2021! I'm now shifting back to incorporate some stuff again, launching my doula business and starting gently up with teaching yoga again, starting with friends in my home. I just love having a stream of info coming in about topics like this- I realized yesterday it's like quality time with myself to be learning- my love language. and I love how it comes out in my work, and life, jumbled and transformed and kinda made into something new. thanks all for doing it together and Andrea for making it possible!

When this book arrived in the mail, I was like "WHOA" ... I'm going to need some breathing techniques to lift this tome, haha! ... For me, perimenopause has highlighted the fact that I've pushed myself physically & mentally for decades ... & my body started signaling over 5 years ago that it's time for a different way. All of the benefits Jill mentions here are of interest ... the ones that stick out to me are "supercharged recovery powers," especially as I age gracefully ;) ... & "better sleep quality," since quality sleep has been an elusive unicorn for me for decades & definitely now as I make my way toward menopause.

As a student of yoga who also shares yoga through teaching, I hope to gain knowledge & experience of simple, accessible ways to support my students with their breathing & vitality.

And as a person who starts a book excitedly then gets distracted, I'm looking forward to the inspiration & accountability of this group opportunity! Thanks for offering this space! E

Greetings from Vancouver, B.C. Canada. I have been a fan of Jill’s for about 10 years. As well, I have been a dedicated listener of your podcast. I had the great experience of taking a workshop with Jill in Vancouver via the YYOGA team as well as with Jason at the Vancouver Yoga Show. I know I will be stimulated to read more deeply and actively. I teach Seniors Hatha and Chair Yoga and hope to refine my teaching and sharing with my students. As an ex smoker (no cigarettes for 40 years) and an avid long term runner for 40 years, I welcome the gift of breathe and hope to enhance my practise as I age well. Breathing is so simple and yet so complex . I have personally experienced the calming and empowering gift of breath practise and look forward to learning and sharing with this group. Andrea, your genuine and expressive sharing are powerful.

Thank you for sharing your intention Andrea and for gathering us all together to explore Jill's book. My intentions for being here are to join in community but to also dive into my "seventh sense" capacity. I had a fair share of trauma in my past and am realizing now in my 50's there are some deep holdings ready to be released. Coinciding with that is that I have been experiencing increased anxiety over the past few months and increased stiffness, restriction and pain in my mid-back along with tightness in my core that restricts my capacityto brreath well. No surprise to me that everything is related. Looking forward to learning new techniques to support my body in the way it is needing and to get to know myself on a deeper level.

Hello. I haven’t received my book yet either, but it should be here tomorrow along with the ball. I can’t wait. Probably what led me to the book is better sleep quality. I feel my head is relaxed, but my body will not shut down if I wake in the night. I am a book junkie and start them and then “look” at them in a pile after a while. I hope that being a part of the book club will help me stay committed.

My intention is to help with emotional regulation. I, like many other mid life people, have a lot going on in my life (crushing work stress, a parent in hospice care, loss and grief with the death of my husbands mom and grandmother, and the happy stress of planning 2 weddings for our 2 children that are 4 months apart). I have had episodes of vasovagal syncope in the past 5 years and my yoga practice has helped a LOT (thank you Jason Crandall - my main teacher on Glo) but looking to round out those practices with other ways to help me manage!

This book arrived the same day I tested positive for covid (having avoided the thing for three years). Being sick has made me think a lot more about breathing and resilience. Thankfully I haven't truly struggled to breathe but there have been days I've been so congested that I've had to depend on mouth breathing. Hopefully I'll be back to full strength soon. Looking forward to learning more!
